Just Dreamy: How to Turn What You Want Into What You Have

Turning what we want into what we have isn’t quite as easy as top guru’s like Abraham Hicks and Rhonda Byrne, author of The Secret, make it out to be. Even Dr. Joe Dizpensza’s work on heart-mind coherence for manifesting, backed by scientific study, is challenging to master. So it begs the question – why is it so hard to attract what we want into our lives and live out our dreams? The answer is two-fold

First, if what we want is not meant for our soul’s evolution, it’s probably not going to appear in our life regardless of how many focus wheels, vision boards, or meditations we create.

What does soul evolution mean? It means that we’re born with a life plan designed to provide opportunities to learn vital lessons and remember who we really are. So, if you’ve had your eyes set on $10M in cash but it’s not showing up, it could be that receiving such a vast sum of money might work directly against your life-plan. If you’re curious about your life plan, just ask yourself what’s hurt most in life. Regretfully, the life lessons that are part of our plan are usually very painful. Second, most people don’t spend enough time BUILDING belief that what they want is something they can legitimately have.

Since believing and receiving are nearly synonymous when it comes to turning what we want into what we have, we’ll focus on how you can heal old wounded beliefs that act as resistance and build new ones to support you in your process. I’m not gonna sugarcoat it, though. And, I’ll say it loud and clear: This is a process that is not effortless. I wish it were, but it’s not. Think about building your dream house..

..it doesn’t happen by prepping an outdoor bath tub with flowers so you can take a shamanic journey under a full moon that night..

Nothing wrong with any of that. I’m all for journeying and the full moon. And, if I were designing my dream home, you might find me doing all those things inside of a well-planned out crystal grid to maximize creativity. But just like you BUILD your home, you have to BUILD your belief that you are capable of turning what you want into what you have.

Let’s look at why beliefs play such a significant role in getting what you want from life.

We all have a set of core beliefs that have a massive impact on what we acquire throughout our lives. From relationships to fabulous vacations in far off lands, our beliefs dictate whether we get what we want or we don’t. These core beliefs are based on how worthy, love-able, deserving, and powerful we feel. I’ve found most people don’t have a very high level of self-worth, deservability, or power in my coaching practice. In general, I notice that many of my clients feel inadequate. The problem with these wounded beliefs is that they lead to behaviors that reinforce the wounded belief creating a positive feedback loop, as mentioned in Dr’s Holowchack & Lavin’s extensive work on our compulsion to repeat certain things in life over and over again.

For instance, if you believe you’re not deserving of financial freedom and prosperity because you don’t hold multiple degrees or think you’re very smart, you’re inevitably going to seek out low-paying, potentially soul-crushing jobs. In the same way, if you don’t feel love-able because you made a mistake in the past or you’re ashamed of the way you look, you’ll likely find yourself in subpar, toxic, and painful relationships throughout the course of your life. So, how do we grind down or heal beliefs to build up and create new ones? Once again, the answer is two-fold.

First, we need to seek out positive experiences that demonstrate our negative beliefs are false.

For example, let’s say one of your dreams is to have a thriving career as a lawyer, but your wounded belief says you’re not powerful enough to speak your truth in the center of conflict. You’ll want to seek out experiences where you can learn how to intentionally use your voice to communicate your knowledge and thoughts effectively. As you learn, you practice and become more adept at creating a persuasive argument for what you believe in most. The process and practice gradually heal’s the wounded belief while simultaneously creating a positive belief that you’re more powerful than you initially thought.

Second, you have to remove yourself from the situations that confirm your wounded belief.

Beliefs are habitual, and one sure-fire way to break a bad habit is to get yourself out of the environment where you practice it most often. Want that impossibly expensive pair of shoes? Remove yourself from environments where you distract yourself from finding another income source that would make it possible to strut your stuff in them heals, Girl.

It takes time to heal wounded beliefs, and I have to drive this home: It’s a process that is not effortless, but the more self-aware you become about your core beliefs i.e. – how worthy, love-able, deserving and powerful you feel, the better chance you’ll have at healing them and building new beliefs that support a life full of the things you want and no longer need. And, that’s just dreamy.
